Tuesday, May 6, 08 - Aberfeldy, Scotland

(See pictures on Flickr - set UK 08/Aberfeldy)

We had in mind that we would take a short trip today, just up to Pitlochry and maybe a few miles beyond to Blair Atholl, but once in the car, my fingers went immediately to the GPS and I searched for Inverness. The GPS reported that it was only a little more than 90 miles and 1-1/2 hours away, and when I informed Lauren of that fact, with a question mark at the end of my phrase, we knew it was a go. We were on our way to Inverness.

The trip was beautiful, especially going through the Cairngarms National Park. What a change of climate and scenery. The weather for the day improved as we went along, too, and we ended up with beautiful sunshine for most of our trip there and back.

I'm so glad we didn't come to Scotland and NOT take that trip. Aberfeldy and surrounds is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking, but there's more to Scotland than this wooded beauty - and we got to see a little more of it.

As for our quest for the day, we found carmel popcorn in Piclochry, plus some good-looking pretzels. I bought four bags of popcorn and two bags of pretzels. That should do us until we reach Devon on Saturday.

Now that we've traveled a long day to see Inverness and Loch Ness, we will take only a short trip on Wednesday - to Crieff and Kenmore, looking for those stones, among other things, and Thursday we will rest before we head south again, on Friday, to north of Chester. It's good to take a no agenda day and just hang around and let our bodies and minds relax.
